Navi Mumbai Cyber Fraud: 62-Year-Old New Panvel Retiree Kept Under ‘Digital Arrest’ For 8 Days, Duped Of ₹13 Lakh; Case Registered

A 62-year-old New Panvel retiree was allegedly kept under digital arrest for eight days and duped of Rs 13 lakh by cyber fraudsters posing as police officers. The accused threatened him with a fabricated national security case, monitored him through WhatsApp video calls and forced him to break fixed deposits before transferring the money to a Jalgaon bank account.
