Assam: Businessman Hacked to Death in Duliajan, Ex-Employee Held
A businessman was allegedly hacked to death with a sharp weapon in Assam’s Dibrugarh district, triggering tension in the area. The incident took place on Thursday night at Dighali Mathawani village under Naharkatia . The deceased has been identified as Jayanta Sonowal, a businessman from the area. Police have detained Abinash Murari, a former employee at Sonowal’s business establishment, in connection with the murder . According to initial information, the accused had previously worked as an employee at the deceased’s business establishment. The exact motive behind the killing is yet to be ascertained. Following the incident, tension prevailed in the area. An agitated mob allegedly set fire to the house of the accused. A large number of police personnel have been deployed in the area to control the situation and prevent further escalation.
