Students of Ocean Engineering of Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) have won the 2026 Njord Challenge, an international competition held in Norway that tests autonomous surface vessels in real-world maritime conditions.
Team Aritra emerged on top of a 23-team global field after full-score performances in manoeuvring and pathfinding and a decisive showing in surprise autonomy challenge.
