Ranchi: Jharkhand Student Protest Enters 17th Day, Assembly March Amid ED Probe and JPSC Resignations

The student movement against alleged irregularities in JPSC and JSSC examinations entered its 17th day, with protesters preparing to march towards the Jharkhand Assembly after talks with the government failed to produce a concrete resolution. Students continue to demand a CBI investigation and cancellation of 13 examinations, while the government has reportedly agreed to cancel only three. Heavy security arrangements, including barbed-wire barricades and additional police deployment, have been made around the Assembly. Meanwhile, the ED has entered the examination irregularities probe and registered an ECIR to investigate alleged financial transactions and a possible money trail. The controversy has also led to resignations within JPSC, with the chairman and three members stepping down. In Odisha, Youth Congress workers held a torch rally over alleged textbook errors and examination paper leaks. Separately, heavy rain and flooding have affected several parts of the country. The Chenab River in Jammu and Kashmir is expected to rise following water release from the Dull Dam, prompting authorities to issue warnings. Flooding and waterlogging have also affected areas of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Assam.
