P-Pass registration to continue for paddy procurement in Odisha

The Odisha government will continue the P-Pass registration process for farmers this year, and paddy procurement will be carried out on the basis of this registration. Chief Minister Mohan Majhi , in his Independence Day address on Saturday, clarified the confusion among farmers regarding the registration process for paddy procurement. He made it clear that AgriStack registration has no connection with P-Pass registration, which is required for selling paddy through the government procurement system. The Chief Minister said farmers need not worry that the absence or status of their AgriStack registration could create difficulties in selling their paddy. He clarified that P-Pass registration will be conducted this year as well, and paddy procurement will continue on the basis of the P-Pass system. For the past several days, reports of difficulties and confusion over registration for paddy procurement had emerged from different parts of the state. This had raised concerns among farmers about whether they would be able to sell their produce through the government procurement system. "We have received news about some problems faced by farmers regarding paddy procurement. The Government has discussed these problems in detail. I want to make it clear that AgriStack registration has no connection with P-Pass registration. Farmers need not worry that the absence or status of their AgriStack registration could create difficulties in selling their paddy. P-Pass registration will be conducted this year as well, and paddy procurement will continue on the basis of the P-Pass system," said Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi.
