Odisha govt directs Collectors to verify pending Madhu Babu Pension applications by August 18

The Odisha government on Friday directed all the district Collectors to expedite the verification of pending applications under the Madhu Babu Pension Yojana. In a letter to all the district Collectors, the Secretary of the Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Department has instructed them to take up the verification of all pending applications on a mission-mode basis and complete the process by August 18. According to the department, as many as 63,848 applications under the pension scheme are currently pending for verification across the state. The Collectors have been asked to ensure that the pending applications are scrutinised promptly and necessary action is taken without further delay. The department has emphasised the need to complete the verification process within the stipulated deadline so that eligible beneficiaries can receive the pension benefits at the earliest. At present, more than 36 lakh beneficiaries (36,75,008) are covered under the scheme. During regular review with the field Officers, it has come to notice that about 63,848 online applications under the scheme are yet to be verified as of 12.08.2026. These unverified applications are mainly pending at the base level i.e., BSSO user ID in Blocks and MEO user ID in ULBS," read the letter issued by the Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Department. "Verification of the pension applications shall help weed out the ineligible applicants, thereby sanitising the pensioner's database. It is therefore impressed upon that verification of the pending applications should be taken up on a mission mode and be completed by 18th August, 2026 positively," the letter added.
