Odisha: BEO suspended over negligence in SIR work
Bhubaneswar: The state government has suspended a Block Education Officer (BEO) in Odisha’s Keonjhar district over negligence in the ongoing special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The School and Mass Education (S&ME) Department of the state government has issued an order in this regard. As per the order, Rajib Kumar Dalai, the BEO of Hatadihi in Keonjhar, has been suspended with immediate effect in accordance with Rule 12(i) of the OCS (CC&A) Rules-1962. “The state government is contemplating disciplinary proceeding against the BEO, Hatadihi, for hampering the progress of SIR-2026 work in the Hatadihi block in Keonjhar,” said the order. The BEO has been asked to report to the office of the District Education Officer (DEO) in Keonjhar during his suspension period. Besides, the BEO has been barred from leaving the headquarters without obtaining prior permission of the competent authority. “During the suspension period, the BEO shall be entitled to the payment of subsistence allowance in accordance with Rule-90 of the Orissa Service Code,” added the order.
