This new law extends protections similar to those of the national anthem, ensuring that any interference with its performance is punishable by law. The legislation aims to honor Vande Mataram, which has been associated with India's freedom struggle, by safeguarding its singing at official events. For the first time, Vande Mataram will also be sung from the Red Fort during Independence Day celebrations, marking a new chapter in its recognition as a national symbol.
