Jakkidi Prabhakar Reddy booked under SC/ST atrocities act

HYDERABAD: Congress leader Jakkidi Prabhakar Reddy was booked by LB Nagar Police under the SC/ST Atrocities Act. The case follows a complaint that he made insulting remarks and verbally abused another Congress leader by mentioning his caste. The Congress party in-charge for LB Nagar constituency, Prabhakar Reddy is also the father of Telangana Youth Congress President Jakkidi Shiva Charan Reddy. Meanwhile, Budda Satyanarayana, a former Congress Party Mansoorabad Division President and now Director of the Hyderabad Agricultural Market Committee, filed the complaint. In his complaint, Satyanarayana said he has been active in politics for 30 years and is a member of the Erukala community, which is a Scheduled Tribe. According to him, political differences led Prabhakar Reddy to develop animosity towards him and to abuse him by referring to his caste name and threatening him. Satyanarayana further stated that Prabhakar Reddy spoke on the phone and in person to associates and party leaders, insulting and humiliating him and his family by mentioning their caste. Additionally, he noted that some of the abusive remarks were circulated on social media. The complaint alleges that Prabhakar Reddy used highly abusive, derogatory, and obscene language, making disparaging remarks about Satyanarayana's caste, family background, occupation, and social status. LB Nagar police have registered the case and started their investigation. This incident is the latest in a series of controversies involving the family of Jakkidi Shiva Charan Reddy, Telangana Youth Congress President. Furthermore, both Shiva Charan Reddy and his father Prabhakar Reddy have recently faced criticism for allegedly verbally abusing members of BC communities. An FIR was registered at LB Nagar Police Station under Section 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Sections 3(1)(r) and 3(1)(s) of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
