India posts $6.2 billion current account deficit in June as trade gap widens

India recorded a $6.2 billion current account deficit in June 2026, against a surplus of $1.2 billion a year earlier, as the merchandise trade gap widened sharply despite stronger services receipts and higher transfer inflows.
