FAC & CKB Commerce College celebrate heritage
Mokokchung, August 29 (MExN): Fazl Ali College (FAC), Mokokchung and CKB Commerce College, Jorhat, Assam, came together for a cultural exchange programme held at FAC Auditorium on Friday, bringing together students and faculty members to celebrate cultural heritage, shared values and institutional ties.The programme was held under the theme “Bridging Borders, Celebrating Heritage,” and was hosted by Fazl Ali College. Delivering the welcome note, Dr I Wati Imchen, Principal, FAC, described the cultural exchange as an unprecedented and meaningful occasion that brought the two institutions and communities together. He encouraged the participants to look beyond familiar boundaries and approach one another’s cultures, traditions and perspectives with openness and curiosity.He observed that although customs and cultural practices may differ, the fundamental hopes, aspirations and passions that unite people remain much the same. He emphasized the importance of celebrating the richness of diverse ethnic cultures and expressed hope that sharing stories and experiences would foster greater understanding and appreciation of one another’s heritage.Students of CKB Commerce College, Jorhat, Assam performing at the Cultural exchange programme at FAC Auditorium on August 29. Speaking on behalf of CKB Commerce College, Dr Kironmoy Chetia, IQAC Coordinator and Associate Professor, Department of English, highlighted the potential of the programme for mutual growth, collaboration and the renewal of the bond between the two institutions.He pointed to the social and historical connections shared by the regions and noted that future collaboration could include exchanges of ideas, faculty and students through academic and co-curricular activities. He stressed that meaningful education extends beyond the conventional classroom and that exposure to different cultures is important in developing culturally sensitive and socially aware individuals.The cultural segment showcased traditions from both sides. Students of CKB Commerce College presented a Sattriya classical dance, a group dance titled “Mohabahu Brahmaputra”, a performance by Gyanam Kashyap, B.Com 3rd Semester, a Bihu performance and a dance presentation titled “Joya Nai”, based on a song by Assamese singer Zubeen Garg while FAC students presented an ethnic show, a folk fusion, Tsüngremmung dance of the Ao Nagas and Naknyulum dance of the Chang tribe. Toshisangla, Convenor, Cultural Committee, FAC, delivered the vote of thanks during the conclusion of the formal session which was followed by a showcase of Naga traditional games. 22 students and three faculty members from CKB Commerce college Jorhat attended the exchange programme.
