Oking Christian School, Kohima celebrates Parents’ Day 2026Our CorrespondentKohima |August 21Oking Christian School, Kohima celebrated Parents’ Day 2026 at the CBCK premises on August 21 with Kekhwengulo Lea, Chairman of the School Managing Board (SMB), as the guest speaker.Addressing the students, Lea drew inspiration from Ephesians 6:1–3, reminding them of the biblical responsibility to honour and respect their parents.He encouraged the students to regard their minds as a precious gift from God and to approach learning with joy, curiosity and a willingness to grow.Speaking to the parents, Lea expressed sincere appreciation for their love and continued support in the upbringing of their children. He emphasised the importance of parents understanding one another and, importantly, understanding the emotions and needs of their children. “Such mutual understanding, he noted, can enable parents to care for their children more effectively.”He stressed that the educational development of children is a joint venture between parents, teachers, the school and the wider community. Parents, he said, should give their children their attention particularly during their formative years.He encouraged parents to persevere in their responsibilities diligently for the welfare of their children, and above all, trust in the Lord for their children’s future and success.The celebration featured a variety of presentations by students, including Bible recitation with action, indigenous song, solo and group songs, and a display of traditional attires representing different communities.A special tribute to parents was also presented by Petekhrienuo Solo of Class 10.Earlier, Lhiwezou Chüzho offered the invocation, while Rev. Dr. Kevekhalo Lasuh, Senior Pastor, CBCK, pronounced the benediction.The celebration provided a meaningful platform for strengthening the partnership among the school, parents and the Church, while honouring the vital role of parents in shaping the academic, moral and spiritual development of the younger generation.
