Amazon fined Rs 1 lakh for selling ordinary sweets as ‘Shri Ram Mandir Ayodhya Prasad’

Amazon has been fined Rs 1 lakh by the CCPA for allowing ordinary sweets to be sold online as ‘Shri Ram Mandir Ayodhya Prasad’ without authorisation from the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. The consumer watchdog also rejected Amazon’s claim that it was merely an intermediary and issued directions covering listings associated with 10 major religious institutions.
