Young Innovators Present Ideas at Assam down town University Ideathon

Guwahati: A total of 45 teams presented innovative ideas at the dtVL Ideathon 2026 organised by down town Venture Labs (dtVL), the technology business incubator of Assam down town University , in Guwahati on Monday. The event, themed “Forging Ideas, Building the Future”, was organised under the NIDHI iTBI Programme supported by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, in collaboration with the E-Cell of Assam down town University. More than 60 teams participated in the Ideathon, with ideas presented across sectors including Information and Communication Technology (ICT), agriculture, healthcare, sustainability, urbanisation, tourism and areas of national importance. Participants included students and innovators from Girijananda Chowdhury Institute of Management and Technology (GIMT), Assam Don Bosco University, Gauhati University, Assam Engineering College, Dhemaji Engineering College, Royal Global University and Assam down town University. The competition was conducted in two rounds, following which 14 teams qualified for the final presentation round. The finalists presented their ideas before a jury comprising Sanjeev Sarma, founder and chief software architect of Webx Technologies, and Biswajit Hazarika, managing director of Trans Virtual Pvt. Team Aade Energy, representing Assam Don Bosco University and NEF Law College, secured the second prize of Rs 15,000, while Team Nexus Realm of Dhemaji Engineering College won the third prize of Rs 10,000 and received Rs 10,000. The event provided students, research scholars, startups and independent innovators an opportunity to present their ideas and receive feedback from industry experts. Pranjal Sharma, associate director (i/c), Entrepreneurship and Incubation, Assam down town University, said the Ideathon provided young innovators with an opportunity to test and develop their ideas into potential solutions. The organisers said the event was aimed at encouraging innovation and entrepreneurship among young people and providing a platform to explore the development of ideas into viable solutions.
