Swiggy expands leadership team, names Instamart CTO and chief growth and product officer, Food Marketplace COO

Indian food delivery and quick-commerce company Swiggy has expanded the roles of three senior executives across its Instamart and Food Marketplace businesses, with new responsibilities covering growth, technology, operations and customer experience. Himavant Kurnala has been appointed chief growth and product officer at Instamart, while Nitesh Garg has been named chief technology officer of the quick-commerce business. Saurav Goyal has been appointed chief operating officer of Swiggy's Food Marketplace. Kurnala has led Instamart's product function since 2024, with his responsibilities later expanding to include growth and brand marketing. In his new role, he will bring together growth, marketing, analytics and product as the company looks to strengthen customer value. Swiggy said Kurnala had driven Instamart's move towards what it described as an “AI-native” product and operating model, bringing product, design, analytics and trust and safety under one organisation. His work has included Maxxsaver, multi-pod delivery, Instamart's standalone app, AI-powered search and personalisation, merchandising and pricing, brand portal monetisation and supply-chain improvements. Garg has worked at Swiggy for more than seven years and was most recently senior vice-president, leading engineering for Instamart and New Initiatives. He has led Instamart's engineering function since its inception, working on its consumer technology and supply-chain systems, as well as platforms covering advertising, pricing, discounts and catalogue management. Swiggy said those platforms are also used by its Food Marketplace and other businesses. As chief technology officer, Garg will continue to lead technology initiatives for Instamart . Goyal joined Swiggy in 2020 and has held leadership roles across business finance for its food and Instamart businesses, as well as driver and delivery product and operations. He has worked on strategic planning, operating leverage and profitability, and also contributed to Swiggy's IPO. Goyal also led the shared-network launch of Toing, Swiggy's standalone app aimed at affordable meals. The company said the service is now available in more than 50 cities. In his expanded role, he will continue to lead driver and delivery operations while also taking responsibility for customer experience in the Food Marketplace. Commenting on the appointments, Swiggy chief human resources officer Girish Menon said the company had sought to develop talent internally and give senior executives wider responsibilities. “Swiggy has always believed that robust leadership comes from investing in our talent, grooming them and giving them a larger canvas to express,” Menon said. He added that Kurnala, Garg and Goyal had worked across different areas of the company and played a role in scaling its businesses, with their expanded mandates giving them responsibility for “larger challenges” and helping shape Swiggy's next phase. The appointments come weeks after Swiggy named former Myntra CEO Nandita Sinha as CEO of Instamart . Sinha took up the role on 3 August, succeeding Amitesh Jha, who resigned on 28 July to pursue other opportunities. The company has also named Gautam Swaroop as chief business officer of Instamart. Sidharth Bhakoo continues as chief business officer of the Food Marketplace, while Swapnil Bajpai was elevated earlier this year to lead Swiggy's Dineout and Scenes businesses.
