NEISSR observes Xavier Board Week 2026

Chümoukedima, September 15 (MExN): The North East Institute of Social Sciences and Research (NEISSR), 7th Mile, Chümoukedima, observed Xavier Board Week 2026 from September 7 to 13 under the theme “Celebrating 75 Years of Legacy and Beyond”, with the spirit of “Learning Through Service, Serving Through Learning.”According to a NEISSR release, the week featured a range of academic, environmental, community-based and institutional activities, including essay writing, plantation, value-based educational leadership, candlelight remembrance, community service, health and nutrition awareness, school-based counselling, childcare activities, palliative care, rural outreach and social entrepreneurship training. Trainees engaged with schools, villages, health centres, care institutions, rehabilitation centres and community organisations as part of the activities. The engagements provided practical exposure while contributing to environmental sustainability, educational development, public health, child protection, livelihood promotion and community well-being.The observance also provided opportunities for trainees to apply social work values and skills, including empathy, acceptance, individualisation, active listening, communication, teamwork, participation, confidentiality and social responsibility.According to NEISSR, Xavier Board Week 2026 sought to connect academic learning with service and reinforce the institute’s focus on professional formation, community engagement and responsible social work practice.
