Bombay HC to hear plea against Marathi language for taxi drivers tomorrow, here's what PIL says

The Bombay High Court will on Saturday hear a public interest litigation (PIL) challenging the Maharashtra government's decision to make working knowledge of Marathi compulsory for auto , taxi and app-based cab drivers on August 29. According to advocate Vivek Shukla, the case has been listed under No. 2 in the court of the Acting Chief Justice. The petition was filed by advocate Vivek Shukla on behalf of four app-based cab drivers. The petition challenges the Maharashtra government's August 12, 2026 notification, which has made working knowledge of Marathi language compulsory for auto-rickshaw, taxi and app-based cab drivers.
