Bhatti Vikramarka says power sector to be strengthened for $3tn Telangana economy

HYDERABAD: Telangana will further strengthen its power sector to meet the energy needs of a state targeting a $3 trillion economy by 2047, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said on Saturday. The [...] <p class="isSelectedEnd"><strong>HYDERABAD: </strong>Telangana will further strengthen its power sector to meet the energy needs of a state targeting a $3 trillion economy by 2047, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said on Saturday.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">Speaking after inaugurating the Power Exhibition-2026 at People Plaza on Necklace Road, he said Telangana had emerged as a preferred destination for investments. The government was committed to providing industries with the infrastructure needed to operate without shortages of power or water.</p> <h3>Government plans power capacity expansion across multiple sources</h3> <p class="isSelectedEnd">Bhatti invited industries and investors from across the country to invest in Telangana's manufacturing and services sectors.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">He said the government was preparing long-term plans to assess future power requirements in advance. Generation and supply capacities would be strengthened through thermal, solar, hydel, pumped storage and battery storage projects.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">The exhibition, organised by the Telangana State Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TGSPDCL), will showcase the power department's achievements, reforms and modern technologies. TGSPDCL had announced that the three-day exhibition would run from August 22 to 24 at People Plaza.</p> <h3>Exhibition aims to explain power reforms to students</h3> <p class="isSelectedEnd">Bhatti said the exhibition was intended to create awareness among the public, particularly students, about developments in the power sector, reforms being implemented and the use of modern technology.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">He also praised power department employees for the services they provide to the state's development, saying much of their work remained unseen by the public.</p> The programme was attended by Energy Department Principal Secretary Navin Mittal, TGSPDCL chairman and managing director Jitesh V Patil, Northern Power Distribution Company of Telangana Limited (TGNPDCL) CMD Karnati Varun Reddy and Telangana Transmission Corporation Limited (TGTRANSCO) CMD D Krishna Bhaskar, besides directors and senior officials. Official sources confirm Jitesh V Patil as TGSPDCL CMD and D Krishna Bhaskar as TGTRANSCO CMD.
