Four minor girls had reportedly gone to bathe in the river when they lost their footing and were swept away. Hearing their cries for help, local residents immediately launched a rescue operation. Three girls were rescued safely, while another was rescued some time later in a critical condition. She was rushed to Bhadrak District Headquarters Hospital, where doctors declared her dead. The incident has left Narayanpur and the surrounding areas in mourning.
