A narrow escape on Kailash Yatra: 31 Hyderabad pilgrims return home safely

The group had crossed the affected Kerung area before the flash floods [...] <p data-start="266" data-end="456"><strong data-start="266" data-end="280">HYDERABAD:</strong> A 31-member team from <a href="https://x.com/ANI/status/2094038694345031987?s=20">Hyderabad</a> returned to the city after completing the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, days after narrowly avoiding flash floods in the Nepal-Tibet border region.</p> <p data-start="458" data-end="865">Former Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) chairman Dr G Satheesh Reddy was among the pilgrims. The group had crossed the affected Kerung area before the flash floods struck, according to Reddy. Reports earlier said the pilgrims had reached Saga in Tibet after completing the Kailash Parikrama and were exploring an alternative route back to Hyderabad.</p> <p data-start="867" data-end="1071">Speaking after the journey, Reddy said the group comprised more than 31 people associated with the M.S. Rama Rao Trust in Hyderabad, with participants from Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Australia and the UK.</p> <p data-start="1073" data-end="1215">"Truly speaking, we didn't face any problem because we had crossed the Kerung area a couple of days before the incident happened," Reddy said.</p> <p data-start="1217" data-end="1335">He said the pilgrims were performing the Pradakshina around Mount Kailash when they received news of the flash floods.</p> <p data-start="1337" data-end="1435">"We were exactly at the place near Gaurikund when this happened, and the news broke out," he said.</p> <p data-start="1437" data-end="1525">Reddy said the group interacted with officials and the Indian Embassy during the crisis.</p> <p class="PDq2pG_selectionAnchorContainer" data-start="1527" data-end="1656">"We interacted with the officials, we interacted with the Embassy. A lot of efforts have been put in by the government," he said.</p> <p data-start="1658" data-end="1828">The group had earlier confirmed that all its members were safe after the flash floods disrupted routes in the Rasuwa-Gyirong region</p>
